Math teacher Jeff Schoenrock said, “Rebeka is hard working, goal oriented, and determined. Rebeka will push herself to overcome any obstacle she faces. • October 2024 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment October 2024 Student of the Month Addison Schoenrock Addison is the daughter of Jeff and Amy. As graduation looms, Addison takes a moment to reflect on her high school experience and the lessons learned from family, teachers, and extracurricular activities. Her story serves as an inspiring reminder to savor every moment and seize every opportunity. Addison credits her family for being her greatest cheerleaders. "My family is incredibly supportive, attending all my events and encouraging me every step of the way," Addison said. “Growing up as the third of four sisters, teamwork and perseverance were instilled at an early age. Together, the family enjoys playing games, camping, and participating in outdoor activities.” When Addison was asked about some of her favorite classes in school, she had this to say, “English class during sophomore year stands out as a highlight. With the engaging Mr. Koenig at the helm, the class began each day with a trivia game that energized students. I love reading and writing, so this class was naturally enjoyable, but Mr. Koenig made it exceptional," When it comes to favorite teachers, Mrs. Noerenberg holds a special place in Addison’s heart. "She recently completed her master’s degree while balancing her roles as a mom and teacher, which inspires me to work hard," Addison noted. “Mrs. Noerenberg’s approachable nature and hands-on teaching style made her Chemistry class a standout.” Addison’s high school experience has been enriched by active participation in basketball, volleyball, YES Club, Knowledge Bowl, Student Council, Minnesota Honor Society, and Spanish Club. "My favorite part of these activities is meeting new people," she said. “Each group brought unique opportunities for growth and connection.” Outside of school, Addison’s church youth group has been a significant source of joy and inspiration. “Initially joining because of my sisters, I stayed because of the friendships, games, and faith-building experiences it provided.” Addison said. When asked about her favorite memories from high school, Addison had this to say, “One cherished memory involves playing varsity basketball alongside my three sisters. Towards the end of a during my oldest sister Autumn’s senior year of varsity, Autumn, my second oldest sister Ava and my younger sister Alise and myself were all on the court at the same time. We made up four of the five players on the court. It’s a memory I’ll always be proud of," they said. Another favorite tradition of Addison is Christmas Week, where, as a member of the Student Council, she helped plan activities and dress-up days to spread holiday cheer. "There’s nothing better than spending the last day before break making cookies or enjoying festive activities”, she said. While still deciding on a college, Addison however is set on a major she would like to pursue and that is in communications with aspirations of becoming a social media manager. "In 10 years, I hope to work with a large account, like a sports team or beauty line, managing their social media behind the scenes," she shared. Looking back on her own journey, Addison’s advice to incoming freshmen is simple yet profound: "Savor each moment, the good and the bad. Time flies, so don’t take anything for granted." Addison’s story is a celebration of family, friendship, and determination, offering an inspiring blueprint for others to follow as they navigate their high school years and beyond.

  • September 2025 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment September 2025 Student of the Month Kimberlie Randt Kimberlie Randt, daughter of Michael and Jennifer Randt, has been named the September Student of the Month at Royalton High School (RHS). Kimberlie has a sister, Rose, who is an 8th grader at Royalton. Kimberlie's favorite class is Composition I and II with Ms. Menden. "Although the class was challenging, it developed my writing and critical thinking abilities in a way that an online class simply cannot fulfill. Ms. Menden truly cares for her students, and although her curriculum is challenging, it prepares them for life beyond high school and even college. The writing, comprehension, and storytelling skills I have gained from her class will stick with me for the rest of my professional life." Among her favorite teachers, Kimberlie wrote, "There were so many teachers who impacted my educational journey. Starting at the elementary level, Ms. Carlson, Ms. Scott, and Ms. Hoheisel aided in the fundamental development of my educational abilities, along with shaping the person I am today. High school is by no means easy, and it took a toll on my mental well-being. Ms. Wensmann, Mr. Koenig, Ms. Noerenberg, and Mr. Coppicus were always there to make sure I was okay and to provide support when I wasn't. I am forever grateful for their impact on my life, and I truly would not be here today if it weren't for them. I am especially grateful for Mr. Coppicus, who opened the door to music and my passion for the activity." Outside of the classroom over the past few years, she participated in Student Council, Minnesota Honors Society, Royal Ambassadors program, Business Professionals of America, YES! Club, Jazz Band, Honors Band, Trap Shooting, and Softball. "These activities have given me knowledge in time management, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication. The club that has provided the largest impact on my life is Student Council, which has made me a better communicator, planner, and team member. I have also met countless role models within the club who helped shape my goals both personally and academically. Some activities that I participate in outside of school include reading, painting, cooking, and trap shooting. I enjoy reading because it offers an escape from the suffocating grasp of reality. In addition to shooting trap for school, I also shoot trap for a league over the summer. Last year, I helped my team place first overall, along with placing first in the individual youth division. The best activity that I have been involved in is Jazz band, specifically, our performance at Solo Ensemble Contest last year. Our group received a superior rating of 39/40, which is the highest score Mr. Coppicus has received in his 11 years at Royalton. Being a part of this ensemble stood out to me not only because we achieved such a feat, but also because of the people I met along the way. The relationships I formed within this group will last a lifetime." Her favorite high school memory would be during last year's trip to Duluth for honors band. "Several students, including myself, accompanied Mr. Coppicus to the College of Saint Scholastica for our annual honor band event. Last year, we were able to visit Minnesota Point, where we took pictures and froze on the cold beaches of Duluth. It was a trip filled with laughter, several sarcastic comments, and lasting memories." After high school, Kimberlie plans "to attend college for two potential career paths: music education and the medical field. I have always been impressed by the power of music when bringing people together and expressing emotions. Being involved in the various music programs at Royalton has shown me the significance music education can have on a student's life. I would love to become the kind of teacher who inspires students the way that Mr. Coppicus has inspired me. At the same time, I am also drawn to healthcare, specifically in the field of anesthesiology. I am intrigued by the complexity of the profession and the impact it can have on patients. Although I have yet to decide which path I plan to follow, I am excited to find the best way I can make a difference in the world around me." In 10 years, "I see myself working in a career that gives me the chance to help others, either through music or medicine. If I pursue music education, I hope to be directing ensembles and encouraging students to express themselves through music. If I end up following the medical route, I can envision myself working in a hospital as either an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist, providing a vital role in both patient care and comfort. Regardless of what path I choose, I hope to be impacting people's lives and changing them for the better." Advice she leaves for high school freshmen: "The advice that I would give to high school freshmen is to ask for help and advocate for themselves, even if they think it's hopeless to do so. I cannot count how many times I have sacrificed my success because I failed to ask for help when I truly needed it. Even if you simply need clarification, just ask! The people in this building are rooting for your success, even if it doesn't seem like it. There is not a single person in this building who wants to see you fail!"

  • January 2018 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment January 2018 Student of the Month Kendra Kull Kendra Kull is the daughter of Lyn and Lynn Kull and she was named the January Student of the Month by the faculty of Royalton High School (RHS). Kendra has a younger sister, Jenna, who is a freshman at RHS. Every year since 9th grade, her favorite class has always been Spanish, and this year it would be her Spanish 4 class. Although there are many teachers here that she loves, her favorite would have to be her Spanish teacher, Mrs. Lindsey Gruber. She is passionate about her job, and while she is considering becoming a Spanish teacher herself Mrs. Gruber has been a role model for her. Sra. Lindsey Gruber states “I have had the privilege of having Kendra in five Spanish classes throughout her high school career, along with a class trip to Ecuador. Kendra is one of the most balanced students I have had in class. She is very disciplined, always interested in how she can better learn and succeed, and is also down-to-earth and genuine with her peers. She is a wonderful role model for underclassmen and I’m sure, will continue to achieve her goals as she starts her post-secondary career. Throughout High School Kendra has been involved in many activities. This year they include: National Honor Society, Spanish club, FFA, knowledge bowl, 4-H, We club, pep band, jazz band, marching band, and Faith Lutheran Church youth group. Her favorite high school memory is going to Ecuador on a Spanish trip in June of 2016. We immersed ourselves in the indigenous culture and used the language in the real world while exploring the Andes Mountains and Amazon Rainforest. Kendra plans on attending a 4-year university starting next fall, and is deciding between Winona State University, North Dakota State University, and University of Minnesota Duluth. She is currently undecided in my major as well, but I am thinking about becoming a Spanish teacher. In ten years, she sees herself happily married with a steady job, and thinking about starting a family. The advice Kendra would give to freshmen is “Don’t be afraid to try new things and take chances. Be yourself and make the best of every moment because high school will come to an end before you know it”.

  • November 2021 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment November 2021 Student of the Month Callie Vannurden Royalton High School is proud to announce that Callie Vannurden was selected as Student of the Month for November. Callie is the daughter of Philip and Jill and sister of James and Max. Callie’s family has helped her grow and learn, “My family has taught me many things over my years in school, but the overall element that they have taught me is the importance of hard work. They have also encouraged me to try my best in all my activities and classes and no matter the outcome they will always be proud of me. My favorite activities to do with my family are watching movies and enjoying family dinners together. At Royalton High School Callie participates in many activities such as: volleyball and basketball and softball and serves as team captain in all 3. She is an officer for FFA and a member of Student Council and the Minnesota Honors Society. Callie believes all of her activities have taught her a lot “I have really learned what it takes to be a leader. Leadership has developed me into a more responsible and encouraging person. I have learned how every action I make (whether seen or not) can make a difference in someone's life.” “It has been a pleasure coaching, teaching and knowing Callie for the past 4 years. She is a fantastic student and teammate. She has a great work ethic in the classroom and when it comes to her athletics she’ll do whatever it takes to help her team and teammates out and doesn’t complain. She works hard and is a great leader and role model. It is not a shock as to why she has been voted a captain by her teammates. She has definitely had a major positive impact her at Royalton,” commented Social Studies teacher and Head Girls Basketball Coach Brad Baumann. Looking at her classes Callie says her favorite class has been Human Body Systems and her favorite teacher has been Ms. Gerads, “My favorite class in high school was Human Body Systems. This class is very memorable to me because I find it very enjoyable learning about the human body with fun labs and diagrams. I would suggest others to take this class if you are interested in the medical field. Ms. Gerads because she has always made my learning experience enjoyable. She inspires me with her organization and effort she puts into all of her classes to ensure that you understand what is going on and is always quick to answer my many questions.” Callie’s favorite high school memory was during this year’s homecoming week, “My favorite High School memory was having the opportunity of being my school's homecoming queen. This was my favorite because it makes me feel like I have been a good classmate over the years. My favorite activity of being homecoming queen was being able to read and visit the younger kids and explain to them how being kind to one another and helping out your classmates can go a long way.” Along with her favorite high school memory Callie also has a couple other memories and experiences that she will cherish. “The events that stand out above the others was the success of my Milk Quality team in the past years and Basketball team last year. One of the highlights of my FFA CDE Milk Quality was participating at the state convention and receiving 3rd place as a team in the state in 2019 and 2nd place in 2020. Another moment from my favorite activities was upsetting the Holdingford Huskers last year in basketball during the first round of playoffs. These events were both products of hard work and teamwork and I will forever remember them both.” As to what she plans to do next year and where she sees herself in 10 years, Callie had this to say, “I plan to attend college for nursing and eventually become a labor and delivery nurse. I am planning on attending Ridgewater in Willmar. I really wanted to go into the nursing field because I am very much a people person and learned how important it is to take care of people. Then in 10 years I see myself working at a hospital or birthing center as a labor and delivery nurse. I plan to live in the area of Royalton because I want to stay close to my family.” Callie’s advice to high school freshmen is this “Do not be afraid to try new activities. Although it may seem awkward or scary at first once you get into the swing of things, that's when you start to make memories and have fun! Also cherish the time that you have in high school because although four years seems like a long time it goes fast.”

  • May 2018 Artist of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment < Back May 2018 Artist of the Month MVP This year's MVP's, senior Brooklyn Pekarek and junior Brooke Richards, hold this year's copy of the Royal '18. The idea of the theme, It's Our Brand, was designed into the cover of the book by having the negative shapes around the letter "R" cut out of the cover. The theme was then carried out throughout the book in photos, articles, logos, and by sections. Royalton Yearbook Advisor Carl Halverson stated,"This year we had three leaders in Ad Sales who hit the $1000 mark. Juniors Brooke Richards and Ashley Seurer, and Senior Editor Marshall Meehl should get most of the credit for raising enough funds to afford a book like this one. Without Marshall's efforts the past three years, none of this would have been possible. Here's a letter from our Josten's representative Paul Sorenson that pretty much says it all. By far, our Best Book in our school's history, and by far, the Best Royal Yearbook classroom staff that I've ever seen in over 30 years of advising student publications. Sorenson mentions sending this book in to Jostens for the "Best of" Lookbook which features the top schools in the country. I can see it now.... L.A., Hollywood high school, Houston, Dallas, and what the heck is this Royaltons deal?"

  • May 2024 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment May 2024 Student of the Month Kylie Waytashek Kylie is the daughter of Nicole. When asked about how family has impacted her, Kylie had this to say, “My family has taught me many things in life. They have taught me to be strong willed, show respect to others, to always be kind, and how to persevere during lifes challenges. I enjoy spending time with my family by going to sporting events, playing cards, spending time outdoors, deer hunting, watching movies, and playing games with my two little cousins. My family has always encouraged me to be the best that I can be. They always have supported me through the ups and downs of life. I am always thankful for my family.” During her time at Royalton, Kylie’s favorite class was Human Biology, “My favorite class in high school was human biology with Ms. Gerads. Human biology was memorable because I was able to learn so many new things about the human body. The reason human biology stood out to me was because of all of the various labs that we did. Some of the labs we did were dissecting baby pigs and analyzing sheep hearts. I would suggest this class to others because you get to learn so many new things about the human body, and how our systems work.” Kylie was asked if she had to pick a teacher that she really enjoyed in class, her response was Mr. Chris Coppicus, “My favorite teacher is Mr. Coppicus, our band teacher. He is my favorite teacher because he always makes class time enjoyable. Throughout my four years in band, Mr. Coppicus took the time to get to know me. Mr. Coppicus would always ask me about my life and how I am doing outside of school, and would often ask about my many basketball ventures. He inspires me to be a leader and to be someone others can look up to, just like he always was for me.” In school Kylie was involved in some different activities, “The activities I am involved in at Royalton include Basketball, Track and Field, and the Royal Ambassador Program. The biggest reason I enjoy each activity is because I get to spend time with all of my friends, while also trying my best to be a role model for the younger kids. Through my involvement in these activities, I have gained many friendships, new core memories, and have learned how to be the leader that I am so that I can have a positive impact on the students younger than me.” When asked about some special memories that she has from high school, there were a couple that came to mind, “My favorite high school memory was attending all of the sporting events. I got to spend time with my friends, while watching my classmates participate in a sport that they enjoy. I also have two specific memorable events that I took place in. The first one was during my freshman year of basketball; we beat #4 seeded Holdingford at their place in playoffs as underdogs being the #13 seed. We won 53-48 in overtime. The second event was this year at BBE when I broke two school records in one game, with one being for the most points in a game with 39, and the second being for the most threes in a game with ten.” Next year Kylie will be attending Valparaiso University on a basketball scholarship. “I am attending Valparaiso University and I am wanting to pursue a degree in biochemistry on the path to become an orthodontist and I will also be playing on the basketball team. I chose Valpo because I love my coach’s beliefs and my teammates’ energy and attitudes, and I fell in love with the campus itself. Once I stepped on campus, I knew that Valpo would be my home for the next four years.” Kylie’s advice to high school freshmen was this, “Advice I would give to the freshmen would be to make all of the little moments count throughout high school. Another big piece of advice would be to get involved in as many high school events and activities as you can, because through these you will meet friends, and you will get to experience new things that you might not have thought were interesting to you at first. I know it might seem cliche, but high school really does go by fast.”

  • January 2024 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment January 2024 Student of the Month Adonijah Ripple Adonijah believes his family has helped him learn to work hard, “My family has taught me to work hard in every area of my life. They let me choose what I dedicate my time to, so long as I do it to the best of my ability. They support me in these things by showing up to events, or helping me when they can. In addition to emotional support, I’m forever grateful that they’ve given me financial support in my education, and just plain old fun.” When it comes to activities outside of school Adonijah said this, “Outside of school I’m involved in our church’s worship team, playing guitar. I enjoy doing this both because I get to play guitar with other skilled people, but also because I get to develop relationships with other people while also sharing my faith. This has also given me opportunities like the worship team I got to be a part of through Minnesota AIM (Ambassadors in Mission). That trip in particular was one of the most important and memorable experiences I’ve ever had.” In school Adonijah has a few activities that he’s been really involved, “I mainly participate in our CTE club, Business Professionals of America (BPA). BPA gave me an excuse to both buy and wear a suit, at least it started that way. But, as my life started to point more towards business related activities, it became vital to my business education. It also gave me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills.” When Adonijah looks at what his favorite class has been during his high school career, he says art would be his pick, “Though I’m not super great at it, every art class I’ve taken has been among my favorite classes. Creating things of value (whether it be personal or for others) is one of the most important aspects of my life, and art class has given me a way to do that. Right now, ceramics is my favorite in particular, clay is an easy medium to work with because you can shape it into exactly what you see in your mind. Art would benefit others by giving them an outlet for creativity and expression, and an opportunity to do what they want, solving problems on their own.” As for his favorite teachers at Royalton, it’s not an easy pick for Adonijah, “This is a difficult question to answer because all of my teachers have shaped both my educational experience and my life. Mr. Silbernick was one of my favorite teachers because he approached teaching with such passion and genuine interest in his students. Though it was frustrating, he encouraged my class to solve problems on their own, with all of their effort, so that they might learn even more in the process. Whenever I get the opportunity to help someone understand something, this is the exact same approach I take because of how important it was for me in math. Other teachers like Mr. Koenig and Mrs. Tordsen both helped me foster my creativity, but were also sincere and dedicated to teaching me.” Adonijah’s favorite memories of high school have come during Royal Hour, “My favorite memory of high school is getting to hang out with my friends in the band practice rooms during Royal Hour (Study Hall). Especially before half of my friends graduated, this was the best place to get zero work done and have conversations about nothing in particular, and that was the best part, it was just enjoying each other's company and sharing in lots of laughs.” As for Adonijah’s favorite activity at high school, it came in BPA, “Getting to go to the national competition for BPA was one of my favorite events in high school. Once I had finally sorted out the funding for the trip to California, we got to hang out in the sun while the rest of my peers were still dealing with the cold in Minnesota. The actual competition part was horrific. I had a headache the whole way through the accounting test I did from staring at the screen so hard. Getting to stand on the podium for 3rd place in a national competition was surreal though. In my mind it took a while to register my accomplishment, because I only saw it as winning one competition, and I didn’t see all of the other people that didn’t even qualify.” When asked what his post high school plans were, Adonijah says he plans to head south to the great state of Iowa, “After high school I plan to move to Iowa with my dad and start a career in real estate. The main thing I want to do is get into real estate investing. After getting to meet one of the Quad Cities real estate moguls, he inspired me to pursue a life in real estate. I plan to also get licensed and become an agent. In addition, I plan to scale and eventually sell my pressure washing business.” In ten years, this is where Adonijah sees himself, “In 10 years, I want to create my own personal economy. By personal economy I mean I want to be bringing real value to the people I’ve surrounded myself with, both by providing them with jobs, but also opportunities to do the very same things that I’m doing. It is also vitally important to me that I build generational wealth for those that come after me.” Lastly Adonijah’s advice to freshman was, “I want to give freshmen the same advice my parents gave me, whatever you choose to do, do it with everything you have. Respect your elders, but also your peers. Studying to remember things is great, but truly learning things is the most important thing. The one thing people can’t take away from you is your education, you’ll still have it even if you hit rock bottom. Finally, take high school seriously, but not too seriously, remember that you're still a kid and will be an adult for the rest of your life.”

Special Diet Statement Form Student safety is our number one goal at Royalton Public Schools. It is important to us to maintain current information on a student's health information and emergency contact information. If a student gets sick or injured at school to the extent that it is necessary to contact parents, we use the information provided by you on your child's emergency contact sheet. This provides the school with phone numbers to reach parents, as well as alternate people that the school can contact and release a student to in the event that we are unable to reach the parents. We will not release a student to anyone that is not listed on the emergency contact sheet without verbal consent from a parent. Please complete the Emergency Information Sheet at the beginning of each school year and update it throughout the school year if information changes. EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION

  • October 2021 Student of the Month

< Middle/High School Academics District Calendar Guidance Office Media Center New Enrollment October 2021 Student of the Month Emma Kasella Royalton High School is proud to announce that Emma Kasella was selected as Student of the Month for October. Emma is the daughter of Steve and Colleen. Through her success Emma says her family has had a large impact “My family has greatly influenced my work ethic and drive in school and in life. Growing up on a farm taught me discipline and hard work. I’m glad my parents encouraged me to help out picking eggs or walk the barn because that discipline has led me to the success I have today. I enjoy fishing and hunting or really anything outside and some of my favorite memories as a child were made out on the lake or adventuring outside with my brothers” At Royalton High School, Emma is involved in volleyball, managing wrestling, softball, student council, the Minnesota Honor Society and YES Club. Emma says being part of teams and groups is something she loves “I have a passion for the sports I’m in and love being a part of the teams. The other three clubs I’m in have bettered my leadership skills and helped me be involved in more community service.” When it comes to her classes Emma says her favorite class is Biology “My favorite class is biology because I have always had an interest in how the body works. Biology helped me discover that nursing really is the career I want to pursue” As for a favorite teacher in high school, Emma says Mr. Silbernick really comes to mind, “My favorite teacher is Mr. Silbernick because he teaches in a way that helps me understand and be successful in challenging math courses.” Emma’s favorite memory in high school was going to prom last year, as Emma put it “One of my favorite high school memories was going to prom last year because it seemed like we had one normal night in an incredibly strange year.” For her plans after high school and where she sees herself in 10 years, Emma had this to say “After high school, I plan on pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing, but I am currently undecided on what school and in ten years, I hope to have a job as an RN in an oncology or pediatric setting. My whole life I have known I want to make an impact in the lives of others, and oncology and pediatrics are areas where I feel I personally could make the greatest impact.” Emma’s advice to high school freshmen is this “When it’s all said and done, you won’t remember every lecture; what you will cherish are the memories made with friends along the way. So, take in every moment, for people really do mean it when they say it flies by fast.”
